5/23/08: PHEVs are being considered by all major car companies. However, the problem is that there is no "PHEV infrastructure", or a network of ways to recharge your PHEV one you've arrived where you are going but before you return home. "Problem solved," says Toyota and others who are installing "recharging points" in parking lots and large places of employment specially designed for plug in hybrids.

6/16/08: Toyota is also working on another small obstacle toward full commercialization of PHEVs - the need for a battery that has enough storage to run on full electric power. Li-ion batteries have that potential, and they are close to making them strong and powerful enough to improve these cars.
